Despite my dislike of being cold, as a figure skater, ice has always been something I revere. The sound of blades digging edges, the smooth texture, the curved patterns so deliberately carved, the way it reflects light (particularly at horrible hours of the morning when I'd rather be sleeping). This is what inspired me to start my ice series. Below is a photo of ice at its finest. It's enough to take me back to the cold mornings at the rink where I learned when you fall, you get back up. Where I pushed myself physically and emotionally through years of training that would shape me into the person I am. Now off to bed so I can get up and skate in the morning.
